This Plowshares News Update just in from our ace reporter in the field, Joe Power-Drutis, always with his nose to the ground (excuse the canine reference Joe), sniffing out the newest news on the Disarm Now Plowshares- Monday morning, May 2, 2011.
Susan & Bix
As of this morning Bix remains in Atlanta and the federal register
continues to show Susan as ‘in transit’. The last we heard of Susan,
when she got her 60 second call, she was in Pahrump Nevada; but it
doesn’t necessarily mean that is where she is now.
Steve Kelly reports he is hearing some rumblings that he is to be
transferred soon. This can mean that he will be moved to another
facility or he may be transferred to a permanent location within
SeaTac. At present, where he is at in SeaTac, his residence is
considered temporary. Steve went on to say “every inconvenience we may
go through brings us one step closer to nuclear abolition”.
Last night, at St. Leo Church, we celebrated once more a Festival of
Hope. It was a wonderful gathering with guest speakers Blake Kremer
and Jackie Hudson. The Festival of Hope will continue in June, soon I
will send out a ‘save the date ‘for that celebration. I had to cut
short my time there at the end because of an appointment. That will
never happen again; there were incredible amounts of sweets, pastries
and time for personal sharing.
I will leave tomorrow for Tennessee; and if these old bones and wheels
of mine stay true, I hope to arrive on May 8th in Knoxville. Once
there I will meet up with Jackie Hudson and Sue Ablao of Ground Zero
Center for Nonviolent Action. Jackie and Bix were two of the 13
arrested at Y-12 on July 5, 2010. All 13 face 3 different charges of
trespassing and huge fines if convicted. Their trial begins on
9th. (Correction: Trial begins May 9, 2011).
Plowshares News will travel with me. I hope to continue providing you
ongoing updates of all 5 Disarm Now Resistors and as best I can along
with information about the trial in Knoxville.
